About Ladies Who Travel

Ladies Who Travel is a global women’s travel community and registered Australian business created to support, inspire and connect women who love to travel.

Alongside our free online community, we host in-person meet-ups, day trips, and curated small-group travel experiences, and provide personalised travel planning and booking support through trusted partners.

While Ladies Who Travel is created with women over 50 at its heart, we warmly welcome women of any age who resonate with our community. The majority of our members are mature travellers, with around 95% over 45 and 75% over 55.

Ladies Who Travel was founded in Australia and led from Brisbane, but our community is global, with members based worldwide.

Our private group trips and tours are generally for women only. Sometimes we invite male companions on trips where we are part of a larger group or vessel where there will be other male guests (eg. cruises). We don’t accept bookings from unaccompanied men, nor do we allow men in the Facebook group.

Not at all. Many of our members travel solo, but others travel with friends, family or partners. Ladies Who Travel is about connection and confidence — however you travel.

No, Ladies Who Travel is not a travel agent, but we work closely with Mind and Body Travel, an ATIA accredited travel agent based in Queensland, Australia.

A Hosted Tour is a trip by a group of Ladies Who Travel members. Usually Melissa or one of the Ladies Who Travel Ambassadors host the trip. The Host can provide advice and guidance to less confident travellers, but they are not a tour guide. Our Hosted Tours are run by professional, reputable tour operators with whom we partner.

Ladies Who Travel Meet Up

A Meet Up is a face-to-face social event where members get to know other Ladies Who Travel in their area. There is no pressure to do anything – just turn up and have a chat. Meet Ups generally go for 2-3 hours.

FUN FACT – three ladies who had booked on the same trip met for the first time at a Meet Up. It turned out they all worked for the same company, in the same building!

We host casual local meet-ups, lunches, coffee catch-ups, winery days, day tours and special interest gatherings, depending on location.

Not at all. Many women come on their own — that’s the whole point. Our events are designed so everyone feels welcome.

Many meet-ups are hosted by our founder, Melissa, while others are organised by Ladies Who Travel Local Ambassadors.

Ladies Who Travel meet-ups are hosted by approved Ladies Who Travel Local Ambassadors to ensure events are welcoming, inclusive and aligned with our community values. If you’re interested in hosting meet-ups in your local area, please get in touch with us to express your interest, and we can talk through what’s involved.

We announce all Ladies Who Travel meet-ups in our Facebook group and on the website, and share reminders via our email newsletter. Joining the group and our mailing list is the best way to make sure you don’t miss out.

It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous — many of our members feel the same way before their first meet-up.

We make a point of ensuring that everyone who RSVPs is expected and welcomed. There will always be someone there to greet you on arrival, and we’re happy to wait with you if you arrive on your own. You’ll also be introduced to other Ladies Who Travel members, so you’re never left to your own devices or wondering where to sit.

Our meet-ups are relaxed, friendly and designed to make everyone feel included — especially those attending for the first time. Many women tell us they were nervous beforehand, but so glad they came.

You won’t be the only one feeling that way, and you definitely won’t be on your own.

Bookings and Payments

The single supplement is an additional payment that covers the cost of single occupancy in accommodation that is priced on the basis of dual occupancy (two people in a room).

The only way to secure a place is to pay a deposit. The size of the deposit is proportional to the total cost of your place on the trip.

The safest way to pay is by electronic bank transfer. Before paying, please contact us to confirm the payment details on the invoice are correct. The best way to do this is via the contact form on this website, or by Facebook Messenger.

You will be invoiced by Mind and Body Travel, an ATIA accredited travel agent based in Springfield, Queensland, Australia.

Your deposit provides the trip organiser and other travellers confidence that you intend to come on the trip. Generally, the deposit is not refundable if you change your mind. The deposit is refundable if the trip organiser decides the trip will not go ahead. If you wish to cancel your booking due to unforeseen personal circumstances, please contact us.

We strongly advise you to take out travel insurance. If you can’t afford travel insurance, please reconsider if you can afford to travel.

Trip planning

Yes! Melissa is an experienced global traveller, travel planner, and works at a travel agency. She can help you book flights and accommodation and plan a trip. She is more than happy to provide advice and guidance with an online call. Please use the contact form to get in touch.

If you’re travellig solo and not paying the single supplement, Ladies Who Travel will help match you with a compatible travel partner.

It depends on the trip. Generally, we detail the standard of accommodation and the hotels we expect to use in the trip notes on this website. Some trips include swanky hotels and pretty basic tents in the same trip! On some trips there is a choice of accommodation styles at different price points.

We list the specific inclusions and exclusions in the trip notes of each trip, on this website. Generally, trips include all accommodation and transport between the first and last day of the trip, many meals, and many planned activities. Some activities are optional, and these cost extra.
Our trip prices do not include flights to and from the beginning and end points, travel insurance or tips.

We strongly advise you to take out travel insurance. If you can’t afford travel insurance, please reconsider if you can afford to travel.
