Some of our members are solo travellers. Some are divorced or widowed. Some have partners who don’t enjoy travelling. Some have friends who are busy, unable to travel, or simply interested in different kinds of trips.
Others join because they want to meet new people, build confidence, share experiences, or enjoy travel with women who understand them.
Whatever brings you here, you’ll be welcomed exactly as you are. You don’t need to have travelled the world, know anyone in the group, or be the loudest person in the room.

FOUNDER
Meet Melissa
Ladies Who Travel was founded by Melissa Delaware, but it wasn’t created in a boardroom, from a marketing plan, or from a perfect life story.
It came from lived experience.
For the past 10 years, Melissa has worked as a travel editor, creating practical, trusted content across several well-known travel websites, including Thrifty Family Travels, Queensland Travel Guide and Brisbane Travel Guide.
Melissa grew up in foster care, is neurodivergent, and has spent much of her life finding her own way forward. For her, travel has been one of the great constants — a source of freedom, confidence, perspective and possibility.
Travel has never just been about holidays. It has been about proving to herself that she is capable. About finding joy in new places. About creating memories. About meeting people she might otherwise never have crossed paths with. And about remembering that life can still be big, beautiful and full of adventure, even when the road behind you has not always been easy.
Before founding Ladies Who Travel, Melissa spent almost 20 years in a legal career within the trade union movement, then followed her long-held passion for travel and storytelling into the travel industry.
Through Ladies Who Travel, Melissa now helps women plan, book and enjoy carefully curated travel experiences. She does this under Mind & Body Travel, a licensed and ATIA-accredited travel agency in Queensland, which provides the professional travel agency framework behind LWT.
But Ladies Who Travel is deeply personal.
Melissa knows what it feels like to start over, to walk into rooms where you don’t know anyone, to feel different, and to crave connection while still needing space to be yourself.
That understanding shapes everything she creates through Ladies Who Travel — from the supportive online community to the local meet-ups, hosted trips and carefully curated experiences.
Her hope is simple: to help women feel confident, capable and excited about continuing to explore the world — on their own terms, and with the right people beside them.
Because Ladies Who Travel is not just about seeing more of the world.
It’s about finding your people while you do it.
