About Ladies Who Travel

Ladies Who Travel (LWT) is a global community created for women aged 50+ who love to explore the world — whether that’s solo, with friends, with family, or as part of a small group.

What started as a simple way for women to connect over a shared love of travel has grown into a supportive, welcoming space where experience is valued, questions are encouraged, and confidence grows with every trip planned (and taken).

Inside the LWT community, you’ll find:

  • Travel inspiration and destination ideas
  • Practical advice tailored to women over 50
  • Real conversations about travelling solo, with partners, or later in life
  • Opportunities to connect in person through meet-ups and hosted trips

For those who prefer not to travel alone, Ladies Who Travel also offers carefully curated small-group tours. These trips are designed to be relaxed, well-paced and enriching — with an emphasis on connection, comfort and meaningful experiences rather than rushing from place to place.

At its heart, Ladies Who Travel is about more than ticking destinations off a list.

About Melissa

Ladies Who Travel was founded by Melissa Delaware, an experienced traveller, editor and independent travel consultant with a unique professional background.

Before moving into the travel industry, Melissa spent approximately 20 years in a legal career for the trade union movement. While the work was rewarding, her long-held passion for travel and storytelling eventually led her to follow a different path — one focused on helping others explore the world with confidence and ease.

For the past 10 years, Melissa has worked as a travel editor, creating practical, trusted content across several well-known travel websites. These include Thrifty Family Travels, as well as her more recent roles as editor of Queensland Travel Guide and Brisbane Travel Guide. Through these platforms, she has helped thousands of Australians plan smarter, more enjoyable trips both at home and overseas.

Alongside her editorial work, Melissa is an independent travel consultant with Mind & Body Travel, where she plans, books and manages bespoke travel for clients — from simple getaways to complex, multi-destination itineraries.

Melissa is also a mum and a partner, and understands first-hand how travel priorities evolve over time. Comfort, pacing, safety, flexibility and connection often matter more than ticking boxes — especially for women travelling solo or later in life. That understanding shapes everything she creates through Ladies Who Travel, from the supportive online community to the carefully curated small-group tours.

Her aim is simple: to help women feel confident, capable and excited about continuing to explore the world — on their own terms.
