Enjoy a free day in Banff to relax and recharge after the flight, or see the city at your own pace.

Leave the charm of Banff behind as you board the legendary Rocky Mountaineer, tracing the Bow River into the rugged core of the Canadian Rockies. Your westward passage winds past the jagged face of Castle Mountain and through the engineering marvel of the Spiral Tunnels. As the dramatic alpine peaks give way to the sun-scorched hills of British Columbia’s interior, you’ll cross the historic Stoney Creek Bridge and pass Craigellachie, the birthplace of Canada’s transcontinental railway. The journey pauses for the evening in Kamloops, where you can unwind and soak in the desert air.
Inclusions : Breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks on the train, overnight hotel in Kamloops.

Continuing your westward trek, depart Kamloops and watch as the arid desert landscapes transition into the dramatic, sheer-walled canyons of the Fraser River. This stretch of the journey offers a masterclass in contrasts—from the shimmering expanse of Kamloops Lake to the roaring white water of Hell’s Gate. You’ll cross the iconic Cisco Crossing, where two railways intersect over the gorge, before the rugged terrain softens into the lush, green farmlands of the Fraser Valley. The adventure culminates as the tracks meet the Pacific, pulling into the vibrant coastal metropolis of Vancouver.
Inclusions : Breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks on the train.

Your adventure begins in Vancouver, a vibrant seaport framed by majestic mountains. Explore the historic charm of Gastown or the scenic trails of Stanley Park, perhaps arriving early to sample the city’s world-class farm-to-table cuisine. Take the day to take in Vancouver at your own pace.
Inclusions : Breakfast.

At the pier, your expedition ship, MS Roald Amundsen, awaits. Once on board, take some time to settle into your cabin and explore the ship’s amenities before the initial safety briefing.
Relax and rejuvenate in the elegant Explorer lounge & bar. Sink into a comfortable armchair and gaze out at the magnificent views through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Inclusions : Once on board, all meals are included

Navigate the Inside Passage, a stunning 930-mile coastal route through North America’s Great Pacific Fjordland. As we transition into the open waters of Queen Charlotte Sound and Hecate Strait, the islands of Haida Gwaii provide a natural buffer from the Pacific.
Keep your binoculars ready—this stretch is a prime corridor for marine life. Watch for humpback, orca, fin, and minke whales, as well as playful Pacific white-sided dolphins.
Inclusions : All meals

Misty Fjords is a pristine wilderness of evergreen trees, towering waterfalls and rugged peaks. If the weather permits, the Expedition Team will lead tours in small expedition boats or kayaks.
Inclusions : All meals

The small town of Klawock sits on the western shore of Prince of Wales Island. The town is famous for an array of totem poles that represent one of the most significant collections of Tlingit art in the world. They serve as a physical bridge between the ancestral village of Tuxekan and the modern community of Klawock.
Inclusions : All meals

Awaken to the misty expanse of Frederick Sound, where the morning air is often punctuated by the spray of surfacing whales. The Captain and Expedition Team will navigate based on weather to find the day’s best opportunities.
Whether we’re weaving through the forested coves of Chatham Strait by expedition boat or gliding silently past the shoreline in a kayak, keep your binoculars ready. From the soaring silhouettes of Bald Eagles to bears foraging along the coast, the wild heart of Alaska is yours to uncover.
Inclusions : All meals

The Icy Strait serves as our playground today as we weave between remote islets and rocky outcrops. Our Captain and naturalists will scout the horizon, tailoring our route to ensure the best possible wildlife encounters.
Whether we are probing sea caves by boat or trekking across a wild beach, the day is defined by the raw beauty of the Alaskan coast. As the scenery grows more craggy and untamed toward the ocean, stay vigilant: the waters here are a corridor for orcas and whales, while the skies belong to the Bald Eagle.
Inclusions : All meals

Drop into a world of ice and stone in the breathtaking Icy Bay. Named for the trio of glaciers—Guyot, Yahtse, and Tyndall—that constantly calve into its waters, this is Alaska at its most raw. You’ll have the chance to paddle or cruise among the bergs for an intimate look at the shifting ice.
Don’t forget to look up; the massive Mt. St. Elias dominates the skyline, standing as the second-tallest peak in the United States. Our journey continues into the Gulf, where the nutrient-rich currents provide a feast for sea otters, orcas, and humpback whales.
Inclusions : All meals

Today, we visit a coastline that tells a powerful story of resilience. Once the site of the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill, the region has undergone a stunning transformation. The thriving ecosystems you see now are a testament to decades of restoration and the healing power of nature.
In the town of Valdez, we’ll visit the local museum to dive into the area’s rich tapestry—from Indigenous art and culture to the grit of the Gold Rush and the daring legacy of Alaska’s Bush Pilots. As we explore the surrounding wilds, keep a watchful eye for beavers, moose, and bears that now flourish in this restored habitat.
Inclusions : All meals

Today, we explore the “rivers of ice” that define Prince William Sound. With 17 tidewater glaciers to choose from, our team will select the day’s best location based on ice conditions and wildlife activity.
We’ll launch our small craft—and perhaps our kayaks—to get an up-close perspective of these frozen giants. As we navigate the fjords, look for Bald Eagles overhead and otters bobbing in the icy currents.
Inclusions : All meals

Your voyage concludes in Whittier, a charming fishing village tucked between dramatic peaks and the sapphire waters of Prince William Sound. Framed by hanging glaciers and rainforests, this remote gateway is a sanctuary for photographers and adventurers alike. From here, we bid you farewell as you are transferred by road about 90 minutes to Anchorage, for your flight home.
Inclusions : Breakfast
