Understanding Travel in Morocco

Morocco is a fascinating and rewarding destination, but it is very different from travelling in Australia, Europe or North America. Part of its charm lies in its authenticity, rich traditions and unique way of life.

While we carefully select accommodation and experiences that provide comfort, character and excellent value, travellers should understand that this is an immersive cultural journey rather than a luxury resort holiday.

During our travels, you may encounter:

  • Traditional riads and locally owned accommodation, rather than large international hotel chains.
  • Occasional interruptions to hot water, Wi-Fi or other services.
  • Restaurants and cafĂ©s with more limited menu choices than you may be accustomed to at home.
  • Different attitudes to timing, service and daily routines.
  • Limited availability of alcohol in some locations.
  • Changing weather, road conditions or local circumstances may occasionally require adjustments to the itinerary.

Morocco rewards travellers who embrace the unexpected, travel with an open mind and appreciate experiences over perfection.

The most memorable moments are often the unplanned ones—a conversation with a local family, a sunset over the Sahara, getting lost in a centuries-old medina or sharing laughter with new friends when things don’t quite go according to plan.

If you enjoy authentic cultural experiences, adventure, flexibility and discovering a destination as it truly is, Morocco is likely to become one of your favourite travel experiences.
